چکیده

We consider a model of an Anderson impurity embedded in a dx2_y2-w&ve superconducting state to describe the low-energy excitations of cuprate superconductors doped with a small amount of magnetic impurities. Due to the Dirac-like energy dispersion, a sharp localized resonance above the Fermi energy, showing a marginal Fermi liquid behavior (wlnw as w ->0), is predicted for the impurity states. The same logarithmic dependence of self-energy and a linear frequency dependence of the relaxation rate are also derived for the conduction electrons, characterizing a new universality class for the strong coupling fixed point. At the resonant energies, the spatial distribution of the electron density of states around the magnetic impurity is calculated, to be confronted with measurements of the scanning tunneling microscopy on I ^ S

Marginal Fermi liquid resonance induced by a quantum magnetic impurity in d-wave superconductors.

We consider a model of an Anderson impurity embedded in a d(x(2)-y(2))--wave superconducting state to describe the low-energy excitations of cuprate superconductors doped with a small amount of magnetic impurities. Because of the Dirac-like energy dispersion, a sharp localized resonance above the Fermi energy, showing a marginal Fermi liquid behavior ( omega ln omega as omega-->0), is predicted...

Relaxation and Thermal Conductivity of Hot and Thermal Quasiparticles and Fermi Liquid Interactions in d-wave Superconductors

In this paper, we calculate theoretically the relaxation rates of hot, thermal and antinodal quasiparticles by using Fermi’s golden rule. The transition probabilities at low temperatures express in terms of Bogoliubov coefficients, singlet and triplet scattering amplitudes and dimensionless Landau parameters. The values of Landau parameters may be determined by comparison with the experimental ...

Kondo effect of impurity moments in d-wave superconductors: Quantum phase transition and spectral properties

We discuss the dynamics of magnetic moments in d-wave superconductors. In particular, we focus on moments induced by doping nonmagnetic impurities into cuprates. The interaction of such moments with the Bogoliubov quasiparticles of the superconductors can be described by variants of the pseudogap Kondo model, characterized by a power-law density of states at the Fermi level. The numerical renor...

Combined effects of pressure, temperature, and magnetic field on the ground state of donor impurities in a GaAs/AlGaAs quantum heterostructure

In the present work, the exact diagonalization method had been implemented to calculate the ground state energy of shallow donor impurity located at finite distance along the growth axis in GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructure in the presence of a magnetic field taken to be along z direction. The impurity binding energy of the ground state had been calculated as a function of confining frequency and mag...

The effect of first order magnetic field in a GaAs/AlAs spherical quantum dot with hydrogenic impurity

In this research, the effect of the first order magnetic field on the ground-state of a centered hydrogenic donor impurity in a GaAs/AlAs spherical quantum dot has been calculated. The perturbation method has been used within the framework of effective mass approximation for these calculations. Overall, the analysis shows that a proper choice of quantum dot radius and magnetic field can signifi...
